Capability analysis for measurement and test processes in accordance with VDA 5 and ISO 22514-7

Required course: Fundamentals of statistics

As the old saying goes: “You can only manufacture as accurately as you can measure!” This means that the measurement uncertainty of the measurement and test process must be known for each measured value in order to be able to assess the measured value in relation to the specification limits. The procedure for determining the measurement uncertainty is described in VDA Volume 5 and ISO 22514-7. In addition, VDA Volume 5 explains how test process management should function for a holistic approach.

In this training course, we will illustrate both key areas. We use software programs as far as possible and demonstrate the application of the procedures using practical examples.

Our training program in detail

Day 1 "Capability analysis"

  • Notes on the requirements of the GUM
(Guide to the Expression of Measurement Uncertainty)
  • Determining the influence quantities
  • Visualising the Ishikawa diagram
  • Calculating the standard uncertainty components for the measuring system
  • Calculating the standard uncertainty components for the measurement process
  • Calculation of the expanded measurement uncertainty and the statistics QMS, QMP
  • Stability analysis and conformity assessment

Day 2 "Test process management"

  • Terms and definitions
  • Selection of suitable measuring devices or measuring equipment on the basis of test plans
  • Risk assessment and decision criteria
  • Optimization and transferability to similar measurement processes
  • Dashboard for status overview
  • Description of roles in test process management
A technical drawing shows the dimensions of a part and a caliper measures the real part.
